One activity that is highly recommended when in Benguet is strawberry picking at the Strawberry Farm in La Trinidad. Strawberry picking is a must-activity when you are in Baguio City from November to May every year. It will only take 30 mins to travel from Baguio City proper to get into the farm.
La Trinidad has a total land area of 8,300 hectares and an elevation of 1,300 meters ASL. The municipality consists mostly of mountains, rivers and springs.
One must register first on the logbook located in the farm’s entrance. You can’t head off directly to the farm without signing the logbook. The cost of the strawberry picking varies. It is somehow twice the price of already picked strawberries sold outside the farm. The increase will cover and compensate the possible damages that amateur pickers might do to the crops. During our visit, personally picked strawberries cost P450 per kilogram while it’s P150-200 per kilogram when bought outside. Expensive, huh? It would be a good experience to try though.
I just registered then went inside to take pictures. I then went back outside after a few minutes because the farm was an open field and it was noon time when we’re there. I can’t take the heat so I went outside and roam around the stores instead. I also tried the strawberry ice cream and it’s really good! I strongly recommend it for you to try when you’re there; it cost P25 only. 🙂
Enjoy and have fun!
